Visa and Digio enable digital payments acceptance for Thai Customs Department


More than seven in ten small businesses around the world say accepting new forms of digital payments is fundamental to future growth - Visa study.

Paying tax, duty and customs fees just got easier in Thailand as Visa, the world’s leader in digital payments, and Digio, Thailand’s leading payment solutions provider, have enabled digital payments acceptance for the Thai Customs Department.

The initiative is the first digital payments enablement of a Thai government agency, with customers now able to make fast, convenient and secure digital payments online or at payment kiosk at the Thai Customs Department.

The integrated online payment platform is powered by Digio, Visa’s first Business Payment Solution Provider in Thailand. A Business Payment Solution Provider facilitates the acceptance of digital payments by allowing buyers to pay with their Visa commercial credit card, and sending funds directly to the seller’s bank account.

In Visa's recent Global Back to Business study conducted among small businesses around the world, more than seven in ten (73%) respondents said accepting new forms of digital payments is fundamental to future growth. In addition, nearly six in ten (59%) small businesses surveyed said they already are, or plan to, use only digital payments within the next two years.

Payments to the Customs Department can be made using a Visa commercial credit card. The use of corporate Visa cards provides users with a number of additional benefits including being able to extend payment dates and faster credit card settlement processing. The new online process also cuts down on paperwork required by businesses when releasing goods from customs and simplifies the process of goods release and payment. For more information, visit


The Visa Back to Business Study was conducted by Wakefield Research in December 2021 and surveyed 2,250 small business owners with 100 employees or fewer in Brazil, Canada, Germany, Hong Kong, Ireland, Russia, Singapore, United Arab Emirates and United States. The consumer section surveyed 1,000 adults ages 18+ in the United States, and 500 adults ages 18+ in Brazil, Canada, Germany, Hong Kong, Ireland, Russia, Singapore and United Arab Emirates.
